Govt Job for Nautical Surveyor-cum-Deputy Director General (Technical) – Post Graduate, Certificate of Competency as Master of a Foreign Going Ship

Educational requirements ( शैक्षिक आवश्यकता): Certificate of Competency as Master of a Foreign Going Ship as recognized by the Government of India

Desirable qualifications ( वांछनीय योग्यता ) : (i) Extra Master’s Certificate of Competency; or Master of Science Degree in Maritime Affairs awarded by a recognized University. (ii) Experience in survey and inspection of merchant ships and examination work for one year or more on the date of submission of an application to the Union Public Service Commission.

Experience requirements ( अनुभव): Five years service as Deck officer, after obtaining the certificate of competency of second mate (Foreign Going), of which one year must have been in the capacity of a Master on a Foreign going ship.
Job responsibilities / description ( उत्तरदायित्व) :Work in connection with Survey and Inspection of Ship and examination of master & mates in Mercantile Marine Departments, implementation of ISPS code, Port State Control etc., Preparation of results and declare result after the approval of Nautical Adviser, Issuance of M.S. Notice and Circulars pertaining to examination, matters pertaining to Chapter IV of SOLAS including M.S (DSRC) Rules, Matters pertaining to Chapter VI, Chapter VII and Chapter XII of SOLAS and the Carriage of Cargo Rules, IMDG Code, etc. including grant approval of Cargo Securing Manual, Bilge Alarms for cargo holds etc. and to frame rules in this regard, Matters pertaining to STCW, Fishing vessel and alternative certification, Matters relating to IGNOU, STCW (F), Conduct of casualty investigation of ships etc. and other duties arising under M.S. Act, 1958 and Rules and orders made thereunder
